Junior on-water programs

Upon completing the Junior Novice program, athletes will be grouped based on age and athletic development. Recognizing that everyone learns at their own pace, we group athletes according to skill and ability, ensuring they develop without feeling bored or overwhelmed. A brief description of each program is provided below:

    • Athletes who complete the Junior Novice Learn to Row program may be placed in this group. 

    • Training focuses on applying technique to workouts and improving boat speed on the water. 

    • Athletes can expect 2-3 practices per week and will be introduced to competitions. 

    • Key regattas include the Regina Sprints and Tops & Bottoms. 

    • Athletes are in the "Learn to Train" stage of the LTAD model. 

    PROGRAM DAYS: Tuesdays & Thursdays - 4:15pm to 5:45pm, and Saturdays - 8:00am to 10:00am. 

    PROGRAM DATES: May 12th to July 26th

    COST: $279 program fee + $51 insurance (not applicable if paid previously) + $50 deposit for firewood volunteer requirement (to be returned after completion of mandatory 1 shifts).

    REGATTAS: Western Canada Sprints (Regina, SK) on June 14th and Tops & Bottoms regatta (Kenora, ON) on July 26th. Cost of regattas are NOT included in program fee.

    • Athletes who complete the Junior Novice Learn to Row program, as well as those with previous experience, may be placed in this group. 

    • Training focuses on improving rowing skills and increasing speed on the water. 

    • Athletes can expect 5 practices per week in a competitive environment designed to prepare them for competition. 

    • Key regattas include the Alberta Open and Northwest International Rowing Championships, with additional opportunities to race at the Western Canada Sprints in Regina and Tops & Bottoms in Kenora. 

    • Athletes are in the "Learn to Compete" stage of the LTAD. 

    PROGRAM DATES: May 11th, 2025 - Sept 13th, 2025 (no training the weeks of Aug 18 and Aug 25)

    PROGRAM DAYS: Monday, Wednesday & Friday - 4:15pm to 5:45pm, and Saturdays from 8:00am to 10:00am. Additional morning sessions as well as some Tuesday & Thursday afternoon sessions will be available.  

    COST: $549 program fee + $51 insurance (not applicable if paid previously)  + $100 deposit for firewood volunteer requirement (to be returned after completion of mandatory 2 shifts).

    REGATTAS: Western Canada Sprints (Regina) June 14th, Alberta Open (Calgary) June 28th & 29th, NWIRA (Kenora, ON) August 16th & 17th, and Head of Sask (Saskatoon) Sept 13th. Cost of regattas are NOT included in program fee.

  • Athletes possess a high level of skill and row in all boat classes, from singles to eights. 

    • They can expect 9+ practices per week in a competitive environment focused on preparing for competition. 

    • Key regattas include the Alberta Open and Canada Cup. 

    • Athletes are in the "Train to Compete" stage of the LTAD. scription text goes here

    PROGRAM DATES: April 1, 2025 - Oct 18th, 2025 (no training during the weeks of August 18 and August 25). 

    PROGRAM DAYS AND TIMES: Monday, Wednesday & Friday - 4:15pm - 5:45pm, and Saturdays from 8:00am to 10:00am, as well as Monday to Friday mornings at 5:30am - 7:00am.  

    Cost:  $875 program fee + $51 insurance + $100 deposit for firewood volunteer requirement (to be returned after completion of mandatory 2 shifts).

    REGATTAS: Western Canada Sprints (Regina) June 14th, Alberta Open (Calgary) June 28th & 29th, NWIRA or Canada Cup, and Head of the Sask (Saskatoon) Sept 13th.   Cost of regattas are NOT included in program fee.

Cancellation Policy 

Changes or cancellations will be accepted up to five business days before the start of the program or first class, and are subject to a $50 administration fee. NO refunds or changes will be permitted five business days prior to the start of class.
